Learning Environment
We use the ECERS-R (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale) as a tool to setup a healthy, safe and natural learning environment for all children. Each room is arranged into different interest areas and will focus on helping children explore and develop at their own level. We use the ECERS numerical scale to help assess the needs of each room and train all staff to use this proven tool.
Indoor and Outdoor Playgrounds
Outdoor play is essential for children’s health and well being. The sense of peace and pleasure children experience when they take in fresh air, feel the warmth of the sun on their backs, and watch a butterfly land gently on a flower is immeasurable. What is very evident is how much children enjoy running, jumping, climbing, and playing outdoors. The time children spend outdoors every day is just as important to their learning as the time they spend in the classroom. For teachers, the outdoors offers many ways to enrich the curriculum and support children’s development and learning.
Security
To secure our building, a staff member will be available at the front doors during peak drop-off and pick-up times. In between, the doors will be locked to prevent unauthorized access to the building. Parents who arrive or pick-up during non-peak times will gain access to the building on a keyless touchpad. Parents will be provided with entry codes and updated when we change them.
We use the Pro Care software security system to check children in and out of the building. Teachers also check the children in and out when entering or leaving the classroom. Teachers are always aware of authorized people to pick up and will require identification when needed.
