Staff

Our Management Staff

The trust and working relationship that develops between your child, their teacher, and you must be earned. Our child care staff averages two or more years of hands-on experience working in child care centers. All staff members meet the state-required qualifications in early childhood education and are committed to your child’s development.

All staff members are required to further their education by:

  • Attending regular staff meetings and in-service training seminars
  • Completing 15-25 hours per calendar year of continuous education
  • Continually striving above and beyond what is expected of them on a daily basis

Andrea Tillotson

Director of Administration

About

Grew up in Racine and now lives in Appleton with her husband Adam and their dog Pongo. Andrea has been with Discover Little Miracles for six years. She was a Lead Teacher, worked in the Kitchen, and is now the Administrative Assistant. 

Education/Schooling

Andrea is looking forward to enrolling in the TEACH program to get her administrative credentials and further her education.

Hobbies

Reading, being outdoors, taking pictures of nature, and spending time with family.

Cassey Emmer

Program Coordinator

About

Grew up in Fond du Lac and recently moved to Appleton. She has two children James (5) and Jacynda (1).

Education/Schooling

Infant/toddler, Shaken baby syndrome, SIDS, mandated reporter, skills and strategies for the child care teacher, WMELS

Why she loves being a teacher

She loves being around kids and has always wanted to be a part of their growth. Watching them learn new things while the children are in her room and knowing she played a part in it brings her an immense amount of joy.

Hobbies

Reading, playing with her kids, playing COD (Call of Duty), and learning ASL (American Sign Language).

Katie Knight

Lead Cook

About

Katie has been employed at Discover Little Miracles since September 2005. She has two daughters, Kayla and Katrina and she loves spending time with them.

Education/Schooling

Infant/Teacher Certification, Assistant Teacher Certification and Food Service Training.

Hobbies

Reading, 1,000 piece puzzles, going for walks, camping, hunting, ice fishing and spending time with friends and family.

Mr. Robels

Lead Teacher

About

Has two beautiful daughters – is a single parent and loves his coffee in the morning and most of the time optimistic!

Education/Schooling

Bachelor’s degree, with over 25 years’ experience teaching PK, K, 1st & 4th grade classes, as well as continuing education classes and endorsements. He is Level 12 on the Registry.

Why he loves being a teacher

Teaching pre-K inspires Mr. Robels to be active, youthful and creative. He loves teaching because it is a very rewarding experience when he sees the light bulbs go on in the child’s head.

Hobbies

Writing poetry, collecting hot wheels, Pokémon cards, board games, cooking, baking and going to garage sales.

Ms. Char

Lead Teacher

About

She is married, lives in Neenah and has three children. She has worked in daycare as an assistant teacher for six years and just recently made a move to the lead teacher.

Education/Schooling

Infant & Toddler Certification, Shaken Baby Syndrome, SIDS, and WMELS.

Why she loves being a teacher

She loves being a part of the children’s learning and growing as individuals. Hobbies: Family outings such as camping, biking, taking walks, playing cards and board games and doing puzzles.

Ms. Janet

Lead Teacher

About

Lives in Oshkosh with her husband Steve, her dog Reece, and her two birds Rueben and Beau. Their three adult children have given them ten grandchildren.

Education/Schooling

Attended FVTC and took several classes in early childhood and infant and toddler. She also acquired her I/T credential at FVTC. Continuing education credits and hours of in-service have been accumulated during the many years of experience as an I/T teacher.

Why she loves being a teacher

She loves being greeted in the morning with lots of little smiles and personalities by the babies, their siblings and parents. She also likes being a teacher knowing that she touched a part of their lives that will impact them for the rest of their life.

Hobbies

Gardening fruits, vegetables and flowers, going boating, camping, reading, sewing, spending time with family and having cookouts, listening and playing music, watching game shows, going for walks, and traveling.

Ms. Mary

Lead Teacher

About

She has been with Discover Little Miracles for over ten years. She has two adult sons and five grandchildren. Neenah schools employed her for 16 years where she worked with children that had learning disabilities and autism.

Education/Schooling

Certified for Child Care Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher and Infant/Toddler. She has also taken classes for special education.

Why she loves being a teacher

It’s enjoyable to watch how the children grow and accomplish new things every day.

Hobbies

Sewing, working with crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.
